About Us
The National Charitable Trust, a non-Governmental organization working for persons with disabilities was started in the year 2010. National Charitable Trust (NCT) is the parent body under which the Salem Institute of Rehabilitation (SIR) operates. Our core objective is to ensure healthy lives and promote the well-being of persons with special needs of all ages.
We help people with special needs live better, learn skills, and become independent with support.
Founder & Chairman
SIR focuses on enhancing the well-being of persons with special needs, and currently, NCT collaborates with Sense International India to offer specialized services for children with Deafblindness in Salem and neighbouring districts.

Objective of the Trust
- To identify and reach persons with specials needs (Intellectual disability, Autism Spectrum Disorder, Cerebral Palsy, Multiple Disabilities, and related conditions)
- To assess the functional, educational, and vocational needs of person with special needs
- To prepare individualized therapeutic and rehabilitation plans.
- To implement Early Intervention and developmental programs to monitor, document and review prognosis
- To provide vocational development programs.
- To facilitate suitable work placement, supported employment, sheltered employment or self-employment opportunities to make them or live independent.
- To provide guidance, counselling, capacity- building support to parents, guardians and care givers.
- To collaborate with National agencies, Government departments, local philanthropists, CSR & NGO partners for effective implementation of welfare and rehabilitation programs.
